Humans need social connection, and because of this we are constantly intuitively evaluating our situation for safety.
Due to past experiences or our body's ability to take in information we can misinterpret cues within ourselves and our environment creating confusion, over stimulation, and dysregulation, limiting the ability to connect with life in meaningful ways.
The Safe and Sound Protocol was developed by Dr. Steven Porges, to reset the autonomic nervous system to a state of regulation, attunement, and increase felt safety.

The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is an evidence-based listening therapy designed to reduce sound sensitivities and improve auditory processing, regulation, and social engagement through filtered music. This listening therapy acts as a non-invasive, acoustic vagal nerve stimulator that retunes the autonomic nervous system to improve connection, collaboration, and resilience. The SSP involves listening to specially filtered music through headphones in partnership with a provider either in person or remotely. The music of the SSP is unlike any other. Each track has been filtered through a patented algorithm that highlights specific sound frequencies that are similar to the human voice. As you listen to the music of the SSP, these highlighted frequencies send cues of safety to retune your nervous system, which can help you feel more settled, engaged and balanced. - Unyte

The SSP was designed and patented by the author of, Polyvagal Theory: the Science of Feeling Safe Developed by world-renowned researcher and Unyte’s Chief Scientific Advisor, Dr. Stephen Porges, Polyvagal Theory focuses on what is happening in the with our autonomic nervous system, and explains how our sense of safety, danger or life-threat can impact our behavior. Understanding Polyvagal Theory gives us a scientific framework that can be applied through physiological, or “bottom-up” therapies, to help change and improve how we feel, think and connect with others.
The training and certification are provided by Unyte.
